trying to raise money

Another lousy day today - we have a stall in Tower Ramparts shopping centre Ipswich…because we want everyone to meet me - the superstar bear!!! & then to buy tickets to win me. We also had lts of little me bits - “keyrings, fridge magnets, calenders etc.” :) We had a fun day, but no-body was really interested in buying tickets or bits of me - it was sad really because we were trying to raise lots of money for children in need :( We met lots of our friends though - Victoria & her family, people from church & Nigle’s mum & dad. Debs sneaked off from time to time to do some christmas shooping - she just can’t help spending :) It was nice to see all the decorators up in town - the christams feel was everywhere - all we need now is the snow!!! We had my videos playing for alot of today - so i can’t wait until monday so i can tell Bradley that his face was on in Ipswich town centre - he’ll hate it :) !!!

RAF Conningsby

well bad start to the day - we were delayed in leaving Elmsett due to the weather & we had RAF Conningsby ringing up to check if we had left :) Then Bradley called off as he was still sick…wasn’t looking good :( Then the weather improved & we were able to take-off at 08:45. The flight there was great & we saw a couple of tornado’s practising - it was brilliant :) 29 Squadron at Conningsby were amazing & looked after us really well. I got to fly with “Brough” in a Eurofighter & we had an intercept practise with a Hawk vs a Typhoon - Brilliant!!! Debs & Nigel went on the flight simulators…Debs managed to land hers & Nigel went formation flying & aerobacticing in his!!! They really enjoyed themself, & i didn’t want to rub it in, that i had been in the real machine!!! :) We rounded of a great day by visiting norwich on the way home via a crossing of the wash!!

Making sure everything was looking good

Ooops..another bad day for Debs as Bradley is till sick, so that’s no flying lesson for Debs :( She’s really disappointed to have missed another one so she desparetly wants to crack these circuits. She keeps reading her books & also reading her own notes on the circuit pattern. “Don’t worry” i tell her - you’ll get there :) At least we have tomorrow to look forward to & my flight in the Eurofighter & Debs flight in the sim!! Nigel has the plane booked & has planned our flight - maybe he should have waited & gave Debs the chance to do it :) We spent time tonight getting ready for our trip - i had a bath & a fur trim so that i was looking my best :) Debs checked the camera’s to make sure they were ready to be used…she was taking photo’s :) we still don’t know if Bradley will be well enough to go…he’ll be hiding himself if he can’t go…because we all can’t wait…let’s hope the weather is ok.

Photocopying Pudsey

Yet another sick day for Bradley - poor Debs is looking like she’ll have another lesson cancelled :( MInd you Bradley might be missing the Conningsby trip if he doesn’t get better soon. Another poor flying day so another ground staff day for me - this time with Victoria the firewoman :) We had all the accounts bits to sort out this morning…hmm i liked counting the cash!!! We also had lots of photocopying to do - & Victoria gave that job to me…oi!! I’m superstar bear, i’m not supposed to be copying!! Well tha didn’t cut any ice with Victoria - what a surprise!!! The club is looking nice & christmasy now with a tree & lights…only Victoria has managed to break the lights around the door!! Never mind, i’m sure some-one from the club wil be able to fix them for her…if they can manage to stop talking & playing on their laptops for a second :) .

Thinking Trial Lessons

Another sick day for Bradley & another poor weather day, so not much for me to do today :( i was able to help Hazel on the desk today & act as ground staff for a change. We had quite a few enquiries about trial lessons for christmas presents…ooh what a great present - i would have liked one of those!!! Mind you i’ve had so many flights in so many different aircraft - i really can’t believe how lucky i have been :)
And i expect there will be lots of lucky people christmas morning when they open their trial lesson gifts :) I wonder when they can go for their lessons - i expect i will have finished my flying by then :( I managed to go out on the runway today, in the firetruck for runway inspections!! I like putting the “blues & tues” on when i go racing along the runway - but Bill had to remind me that he was supposed to be inspecting the runway not having a race - oops :) !!!

Disappointed Debs

Oh dear - Debs should have had a flying lesson today, but it was cancelled because Bradley was sick :(. Tha’s a shame, because i was hoping to show him my bits i was bought at Norwich on saturday - a father christmas hat & beard…Debs wanted to get me the whole suit :)!! I’ve had lot’s of photo’s taken to prove how good i look wearing them!!! Anyway Debs was disappointed to have her lesson cancelled - she so wants to crash her landings… not literally i hope - hee hee!!! To make up for it, Victoria has booked her another lesson for thursday - let’s hope Bradley gets better as he’s supposed to be coming to conningsby with us on friday. Top off a “great” day Debs had a dentist appointment…& has to have a filling :( i’m so glad that i don’t have to go to the dentist…us bears look after our teeth the natural way without all the medical intovention :)!!!

Promising Panto

No flying day today - too much panto rehearsing going on…that’s so funny to watch - Nigel really suits being a dame..can’t wait to see him in a dress & mak-up!!! Debs is having fun being evil (”for a change” she says…”what?” i say!!) as the snow queen :).
Ben is playing the part of PC Young & he’s excited because he gets to arrest Debs at the end of the panto :). Ben is doing the panto for his DofE Silver award - he’s really got into the swing of thins now. Last year when he was working for his bronze it was really hard work to get him (& the other kids) motivated…but now he’s actually earnt his bronze (& he was the 1st one to do so) he’s really keen to go for Silver…Excellent!!!
It’s a great pity that bear’s can’t do DofE - i’m sure i’d have room for a couple more badges on this suit…& make bradley jealous…after his badge fetish the he seems to have :).

The Christmas shopping

Christmas is coming and we’re off shopping to Norwich - by plane :-) . We flew from Elmsett to Norwich in G-CCCN with Karen and Simon and it was rather windy … oops not karen’s favourite trip :-). We went via Wymondham as a sight seeing treat for simon (his home town :-)). They left me behind while they went shopping (my choice!!) so i was able to catch up on things with Dale, Andrea, Emily, Elliot and Scarlet :-). Then Dale and i went on a new training flight in G-BUCA … it was great to fly around norfolk again. Then we had a night flight back to Elmsett … a much smoother flight this time - much to Karen’s delight. Deb tried the sat nav on her phone out and it works a treat :-) Simon had a go at flying home and enjoyed the experience .. Deb and Karen had Enjoyed the Norwich shopping experiance - plenty of bags to prove it and a gift for me too!!! :-)

Night Flights

Need to get back on track with my diary instead of reminicising on my trip to Aderdeer :-) Yesterday it was back to GA and real flying! Nigel had some night checkouts to do in G-BZHF…ooh Earls Colne looks so much smaller than Norwich and it has so many lights missing…where are all the approach lights!! Nigel was happy with the checkout so Mr Chak and I were left to do some night circuits on our own…I did offer some advice considering all the experience I have :-) Today Bradley and I were doing circuits with Debs in G-BZET…at least her landings were better then the ones at Norwich :-) Think she’s getting frustrated as there’s so much to take in and get right…I did offer to show her the technique (seeing as I have sooo many hours now)- but all I got was the look :-) I mustn’t be cruel as Im sure she’ll get there one day…hehe :-)

Drama at the airports

Glad to be back home after our trip up North. I’ve now got time to tell you all about our other dramas yesterday…as there was such fuss over checking in and Debs was panicing that we’d miss the flight she went straight to check-in and then was planning on dropping the hire cars keys off. Then we had the panic over the badges that she dashed straight through the secruity to the lounge…only to realise that she still had the hire car keys in her pocket…oops :-( Luckily a friendly secruity man took pity on her and took them back! The flight home was again on G-CDEB (much to Deb’s delight :-)) It was also with a crew that I’d flown with before- Winnie Multer and Simon Rolfe (Dale’s friend)- so it was great as we all knew the drill, we dive a “Yak descent” into Norwich- they said it was because ATC kept them high…I think we have more frustrated pilots!! :-)
