Meeting the BBMF Big Chief

Posted By Pudsey On 01/05/2007 @ 07:29 pm In Diary | 1 Comment

Oooh best behaviour today as I had to have a meeting with the big chief – Squadron Leader Al Pinner :-). Al told me that I would be flying in the Hurricane on the 2nd with F/L Parkinson & the Spitfire on the 3rd with Al. He told me that I would be able to get in the Dakota this time – oh well ¾ ain’t bad! Al was actually really good to me & spent ages showing me over the planes & explaining what they do. He also told me a little bit about the history of the planes – apparently one of the Spitfires was built at Castle Bromwich in August 1940 & it had an eventful time even getting shot down on 25 Oct 1940 – oops! The BBMF have used many different colour schemes honouring various different RAF units – well after I’ve flown on it perhaps they’ll do a colour scheme with a logo of me on it!! Oops I just copped the ‘Dale look’ from AL Pinner after suggesting that :-)! Must go & get an early night now – Hurricane tomorrow :-)
